Two graduates from Texas County Technical College were recently honored for their nursing excellence by receiving DAISY awards at area hospitals.
Stephanie Tabor, a 2013 LPN and 2015 LPN to RN graduate, is a registered nurse in the medical surgical unit at Texas County Memorial Hospital. She was nominated by two of her patients who said she was the best nurse they’ve ever had.
Megan Stewart, a 2017 LPN to RN graduate, is a registered nurse in the medical telemetry unit at Phelps County Regional Medical Center. It was the second time Stewart, who was described as being “compassionate beyond measure,” received the award.
“We hope to provide an excellent education to our students but also encourage them to reach a deeper level of care with their patients,” said Clarice Casebeer, TCTC director of admissions. “Congratulations to Stephanie and Megan for exemplifying what a great nurse is.”
Four other TCTC alumni –– Stephanie Thurman, Courtney Stewart, Brittany Walter and Ashley Russell –– were nominated for the Daisy Award at TCMH.
