The Houston Police Department recently handled several investigations that led to citations.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Kristina M. Shelton, 40, of 8140 Emery Road at Bucyrus, was arrested Feb. 21 for having two active warrants for failure to appear, one from the City of Licking and one from the City of West Plains.

An officer made the arrest after responding to a report in the parking lot at Texas County Memorial Hospital. During an investigation, the officer made contact with a man and woman in the parking lot and asked them if they knew what had happened.

A routine computer check revealed the warrants. Shelton was taken to the Texas County Jail where she was unable to post $1,300 bond.

•Montana L. Stewart, 23, of 226 Chestnut Terrace in Houston, was issued citations for driving with a suspended license and no operable license plate light after a traffic stop on First Street just after midnight Feb. 17.

•Brandon J. Brim, 36, of 921 Ozark Street, No. 13, in Houston, was arrested Feb. 22 for having an active Texas County warrant for stealing $750 or more. An officer who was aware of the warrant made the arrest after recognizing Brim as the driver of a vehicle on Walnut Street and conducting a traffic stop.

At about 11 p.m. Feb. 20, a Houston police officer was dispatched to Texas County Memorial Hospital regarding a report of a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with Joshua Breedlove, who said a friend had shot herself. The injured woman told the officer incident occurred when the victim had tried taking the gun away from him after he stuck it in his mouth.

During the officer’s investigation, a burnt marijuana cigarette was reportedly found in the pocket of Breedlove’s coveralls, which was photographed and placed into evidence. He was issued a citation for possession of marijuana.

County authorities were advised of the situation after the police officer determined the gun incident had happened outside Houston’s jurisdiction. (A related story appears elsewhere)
