A Branson woman faces multiple felony charges after being arrested for allegedly swiping close to $2,000 worth of electronics from the Houston Walmart shortly after midnight Feb. 12.
As a result of an arrest made by a Houston police officer, Amanda D. Spencer, 34, is charged with felonies of second-degree burglary and stealing $750 or more.
According to the arresting officer’s report, a female assistant manager at the store called the officer about 12:35 a.m. indicating she had just witnessed a woman steal several items and leave the parking lot in a silver Suzuki Aerio, traveling on Holder Drive toward U.S. 63. The officer saw the vehicle turn left at the intersection onto U.S. 63, but the driver apparently lost control on icy pavement and struck a concrete curb, damaging the left front wheel.
The officer then made contact with the driver – Spencer – and observed several unopened electronic items in the back seat of the vehicle. Spencer was then asked directly about swiping them from Walmart and admitted to it.
The total value of the stolen goods was reportedly $1,858.
The Walmart employee told the officer a female customer who had also witnessed the theft tried to prevent Spencer from exiting the parking lot by attempting to block the Suzuki with her own car, but Spencer drove around the road block.
During the investigation, Spencer’s driver’s license was found to be revoked and she was charged with a misdemeanor for that offense. She is in the Texas County Jail on $150,000 bond.
