The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual banquet last Saturday night in the community building at the fairgrounds.

The event’s theme was “Saturday Night Fever/Disco,” and many attendees came dressed for the occasion.

Next up on the chamber’s 2018 schedule of events is the Spring Bazaar and Food Truck Festival on April 14.

During the event, the chamber presented several awards:

•Lifetime Achievement – Dr. Gerald St. John, Edgar Rust, Linda Gibson.

•Excellence in Agriculture – Darren and Renee Ice.

•Public Service – David Kidwell.

•Good Neighbor – Vera Gladden.

•Volunteer – Pat Miller.

•Woman in Business – Jennifer Crowl.

•Outstanding Non-Profit – Pregnancy Resource Center of South-Central Missouri.

•Outstanding Business – The Health Food Store.

*All award recipients were chosen by local residents, except “Lifetime Achievement,” which was selected by the chamber board.
