Here are investigations handled by the Texas County Sheriff's Department that were released during the last week. 

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•An Illinois woman called March 25 to request that a deputy check the well-being of her nephew at a Highway Y residence at Willow Springs. The officer went to the home and learned the nephew had died Dec. 31.

The officer called the woman back to deliver the news.

•An anonymous person called March 24 to request that a deputy check the well-being of a woman at a Highway 32 residence at Roby.

The caller said a man was screaming at her at Walt’s store. Upon arrival, the officer knocked on the door and woke up the man and woman. They stated they had been there all day, and everything was fine.

•An anonymous caller reported on March 24 that a woman was waving a pistol around at the Paddy Creek Campground at Success. The caller said the woman was in a red truck pulling a horse trailer. Upon arrival at the campground, an investigating officer found nobody there.

•A deputy responded March 23 to a report of a fight in progress outside a Highway B residence at Raymondville.

Upon arrival, the officer saw nobody outside the home. Contact was made with people inside and they said nobody had been fighting, or even arguing.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 2:40 p.m. March 23 after a man reported that two men dressed in white walking around behind his U.S. 63 residence at Licking. Upon arrival, the officer was informed that the two men had permission to be there.

•A 40-year-old Houston woman reported on March 22 that two bags containing makeup and other items (with a total value of $400) had been swiped from her vehicle the previous night while it was parked at New Beginnings Baptist Church on Piney Drive at Bucyrus.

The woman said church security personnel had run off two teenage boys earlier the same evening.
