The Houston Ministerial Alliance is hosting free security training for area churches.
The event –– at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Houston –– will be led by Tim Ceplina, Houston’s police chief and owner of Spearpoint LLC. Registration and tickets are not required.
The alliance said it is sponsoring the event to equip all churches with information from forming security teams to the value of background checks. Further on-site evaluations can be scheduled with Ceplina following the event.
On his website, Ceplina said the program “has been developed for any church that wants to start a safety or security team. We help set up a plan for scheduling, conduct a security assessment and explain how to react in a situation in a house of worship.”
