Revenue from the City of Houston's sales tax was up in Houston in the latest distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue. 

Collections from a one-cent sales tax in Houston were nearly unchanged during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally was $56,633, which is down $769 from the same period a year ago. In the first quarter, $180,936 was collected. That’s down $480 from 2017.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed $13,747, which was down about $167 on each. For the first three months of the year, the total was $43,393, which is down $704 each from last year.
