Military veteran

Thomas W. Watts, 64, son of Thomas O. Watts and Charlotte C. “Dolly” (Brown) Watts, was born Dec. 6, 1953, in East St. Louis, Ill. He passed away April 21, 2018, at Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston, Mo.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Eddie and Joyce Austin; a stepdaughter, Tabitha Spiroff; and a brother-in-law, Al Cline.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (nee Austin); one daughter, Kristy (Darin) Butcher; two sons, Kevin (Maria) Watts and T.C. (Katie) Watts; one stepdaughter, Kat Spiroff; grandchildren, Jessie Glover, Donnie Gray, Keegan Butcher, Kandra Butcher, Kody Watts, Chase Watts, Kiley Watts, Aden Foster, Corey Watts and Madalyn Watts; and sisters, Lola Cline, Diana Logan, and Barbara (Larry) Cole.

Thomas grew up in Caseyville, Ill., and graduated from Collinsville High School. He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Janet Watts on Nov. 7, 1992.

Thomas served many communities as a police officer, including Washington Park, Caseyville, Pontoon Beach, Smithton and Freeburg, Ill.

He loved spending time with his dogs, Dolly and Rocky. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting, hunting, riding four wheelers and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home with services beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Donnie Hill officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
