A Hartshorn man sustained moderate injuries after his vehicle on Sunday struck a horse.

Two persons were injured Thursday in a Highway 17 crash north of Success, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Sgt. Dale Pounds said a southbound 2003 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Tyler L. Edwards, 17, of Houston, crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2000 Dodge Ram pickup operated by Raymond E. Garrett, 81, of Success.

Both drivers sustained moderate injuries and were taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

Both vehicles were totaled. Edwards was not wearing a seat belt, and Garrett was restrained, Pounds said.

Also assisting at the scene were the Texas County Sheriff’s Office and Nebo Fire and Rescue, according to a report.
