A pair of Licking teenagers each face numerous charges after an investigation by the Licking Police Department of burglaries at two Highway 32 businesses.
According to an LPD officer’s report, the officer responded at about 4 a.m. to PJ’s Café, where the owner said someone had removed a window-mounted air conditioning unit, entered through the window and swiped money from the cash register.
At about 7:45 a.m., the officer was advised of a burglary at Triplett’s General Merchandise. Upon arrival, the officer observed that glass was broken out of the store’s front door and heard the owner state that several bottles of alcoholic beverages and glass smoking devices had been stolen.
Security video at the store showed two male suspects break the glass and enter. Based on prior contact with them, the officer recognized the suspects.
After further investigation, the suspects were located and arrested, and some of the stolen items were reportedly recovered and the suspects admitted to the crimes.
As a result, Brandon Tharp, 18, and Brett Lewis, 17, both of Licking, were arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail. Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens Jr. charged each with three felonies (including two counts of second-degree burglary and first-degree property damage, both class D felonies) and four misdemeanor offenses (including two counts of stealing, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession of alcohol).
