A Republican nominee for Texas County presiding commissioner withdrew from the race.
County Clerk Laura Crowley said Don Gaston of Houston had filed paperwork to withdraw. Today was the last day to do so, under state law.
That leaves the GOP field as Glenn McKinney, Houston; Scott Long, Cabool; and Bill Villapiano, Houston.
On the Democratic Ticket is Rick Dixon of Raymondville.
The incumbent, Fred Stenger of Houston, had refiled, but later withdrew.
