Today promises to be a busy one in Houston.
Many activities are scheduled for the day, including the first-ever “Grand Festival” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the downtown area. Organized by several downtown merchants, with help from the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce, that event will feature vendors, food, live music and a large classic car and motorcycle show featuring more than 60 vehicles.
There will also be grand openings, open houses and customer appreciation events hosted by several merchants on Grand Avenue and adjacent downtown streets.
Meanwhile, the chamber will host its second “indoor yard sale” of the year from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the community building at the fairgrounds.
Outside at the fairgrounds, Roby resident Tommy Files will offer helicopter rides for $25 per person, weather permitting. Files operates Heartland Helicopters LLC and will take people up for a thrilling three-to-four-minute jaunt in his chopper.
The chamber will also host a 5K Fun Run that will begin at 10 a.m. at Pine Street in downtown Houston.
