COMMISSION MEETS

Another lawsuit has hit Texas County government from a man who has litigation pending before the Texas County Commission.

In the May 23 lawsuit, activist George Sholtz of Plato said he’s been unable to receive meeting notices of the county commission.

“Defendant has not provided dates or times or locations of meetings for the government body of the Texas County commissioners. Attached is a copy of correspondence showing defendant has in fact receive (sic) request for meeting dates, time and locations.

Attached to the lawsuit is a May 17 email telling the clerk of the commission that he had not received the information requested on May 12.

Sholtz asked the court to reimburse him for the cost of the lawsuit.

In an earlier dustup, Judge Ronald White denied a motion to silence George Sholtz, who the commissioners argued was harassing it over the airwaves of Big Country 99.3, the radio station he owns and manages. Separately, the judge ruled Sholtz’ request for production of documents in his case was overbroad and denied a restraining order for the commission to stop involving itself in township matters.

Sholtz sued the commission last November for damages related to a fatal farming accident involving his son-in-law.
