Revelation 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou (Ephesus) hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
Hate is a spiritual skill that the American Church desperately needs to learn!
Our nation is dying before our eyes because the Church has ignorantly followed the mindless deception that we are to love everything, everywhere, every time!
Lies! Lies! Lies!
The one asset the Church of Ephesus had in its favor was… HATE! When God hates something, we are ordered to hate it too!
So, what was the doctrine of the Nicolaitans? Nicolaitanism was a heresy that subverted the godly morality of the laity by sanctioning / endorsing the wicked practices of the Church hierarchy. The doctrine perverted grace and promoted immoral behavior. Nicolaitans thought “God would overlook sin.” But, He didn’t! He targeted the hated perversion of the Nicolaitans like a guided missile.
While the Church of Ephesus hated the very thing God hated, The Church of Pergamum actually accepted the detestable practice within the ranks of its congregation, “So hast thou (Pergamum) also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.” Rev. 2:15
Ephesus hated what God hated… but Pergamum turned to love a detestable doctrine and fell under God’s judgment for it!
And that, children, is why America is on the fast track to Hell today! It’s not because we have loved too little. No, like the Church of Pergamum, we haven’t hated enough!
