A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a crash northeast of Cabool.
Sgt. George Falterman of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said a westbound 2000 Kia Sportage driven by Everett A. Merritt, 46, of Willow Springs, attempted to avoid a vehicle stopped on Highway U and struck Suzanne K. Atchley, 25, of Lubbock, Texas, in the ditch.
Atchley was airlifted to Mercy Hospital.
Falterman said Merritt was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle had minor damage.
