A Texas County man was arrested following the theft of a vehicle and its crash, authorities said.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Brandon Hess, 27, of 705 Oak Drive in Cabool, was arrested June 5 for having an active Texas County warrant for first-degree child molestation and first-degree sodomy (victim less than 12 years of age). An officer made the arrest at the Outreach Consulting and Counseling Services of Missouri office in Houston after being advised Hess was there.

He was taken to the Texas County Jail.

•An officer responded at about 8:20 p.m. June 6 to a report of a vehicle stolen from the parking lot at the Eagles Club on South U.S. 63.

The officer made contact with a 43-year-old man who owns the vehicle – a 2016 Ford F-350 valued at about $50,000 – and he stated he had arrived at the club at about 4:30 p.m. and went outside a couple of hours later to find the truck gone.

Surveillance video showed a white male carrying a red and black backpack approach the truck at about 6:30 p.m., wearing a red shirt, black knee-length shorts, a white baseball cap and white sneakers. The suspect reportedly looked inside a green cooler in the truck’s bed, and then approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, where a window was down. The suspect then went to the passenger’s side, tossed his backpack into another open window, returned to the driver’s side and got in and drove away.

Investigation continues.
