The 67th annual Raymondville Picnic and Carnival began Thursday and runs through Saturday of this week (June 14-16) at the Raymondville Fairgrounds.
Big D amusements offers midway rides, and there are a variety of games, food booths and other attractions of interest. Armbands for rides cost $20 at the gate, but are available for $15 in advance at the Village of Raymondville building, the Raymondville grocery store or Landmark Bank in Houston.
The event will feature music from “The Rhubarb Jam,” “Garold McCoy and the South 63 Band” and “Ray Stephenson’s Together Again.”
Air-Evac Lifeteam will have a helicopter on display and the Licking FFA chapter will host a petting zoo. Other activities will include kids’ games, an obstacle course and a variety of arts and crafts vendors and other vendors in the fairgrounds’ community building.
The Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its annual raffle. This year’s prizes include a Remington 22-2250 rifle, a Smith & Wesson .357 caliber pistol and a $250 gift card from Walmart. The drawing will be held on Saturday night and the winner need not be present. Raffle tickets for the drawings are $10.
Members of the Raymondville FD will also host bingo.
The event kicks off at 6 each evening, with kids’ activities in the arena on Thursday and local youth groups hosting an obstacle course on Saturday.
Parking for the event is free.
