A girl who was abducted from a Cabool home early Friday was found safe later that morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The 7-year-old was taken from a residence at 924 Cedar by her father around 4:40 a.m. About four hours later, the girl and the parent, David W. Hewett, 54, were found. Hewett was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail.
The father fled with the girl after an altercation that led to injuries to his girlfriend – who is the mother of the child.
Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens Jr. charged Hewett with second-degree domestic assault. He is held on $200,000 bond.
When the patrol announced the abduction, it said the suspect was perhaps impaired by drugs.
