Members of the Texas County Commission on June 27 handled personnel matters and heard about the upcoming board of equalization schedule.
According to its minutes that were released July 11, members learned the date of board of equalization meeting (9:30 a.m. July 18) and board of appeals (9:30 a.m. Aug. 15).
In other matters, members:
—Received and reviewed a letter from Trident General Liability Insurance Co.
—Issued a letter of support for a Delta Regional Authority funding program that would repair water lines at the industrial park at Pomona.
—Heard Commissioner John Casey give an update about a regional Extension meeting he attended. He said he stated the county’s strong desire to have an agriculture specialist based in Texas County.
—Heard from Sheriff James Sigman who gave a report on several issues, including an update on vehicle repairs, hirings and terminations and matters related to healthcare at TCMH. It was reported Nicole R. Collins was hired as a full-time dispatcher on June 22 at $9.50 an hour. Firings reported were Michael Wallace, a jailer, on June 22, Mark Etchason, a jailer, on June 13; and Lucas Cooperman, a jailer, June 22.
