A Houston woman is charged with assault following an incident southeast of the community.

As a result of an alleged incident in late May at a residence about 10 miles east of Houston, a woman is charged with third-degree assault (a class E felony).

Amanda D. Smith, 37, of 18147 Grandview Road, was charged July 9 for her role in an alleged encounter with another woman.

According to a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy’s report, a woman stated on May 23 that she had been assaulted by Smith. The alleged victim claimed Smith kicked her in the face and neck area several times and threatened to kill her.

The officer noted in the report that the victim bore marks consistent with being struck, and photographs were taken. The victim said she tried defending herself with mace, but to no avail.

Smith’s bond is set at $50,000.
