An Elk Creek man was hurt Friday, Oct. 5, in southern Texas County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. 

A Raymondville man faces several charges after a serious accident late Tuesday night in southern Texas County. 

Tpr. M.J. Chastain said a northbound 1999 Ford Taurus driven by Ronald K. Atkisson, 52, travelled off the right side of Highway 17, struck two signs, overturned and struck a fence at about 11:10 p.m. 

Atkisson was flown by medical helicopter to Cox South at Springfield. The vehicle was totaled, Chastain said. Two MoDOT signs were damaged. 

The mishap occurred six miles north of Mountain View. 

Assisting at the scene was Sgt. Dale Pounds of the patrol.

Atkisson is charged with DWI – aggravated offender, possession of 10 grams or less of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, driving while revoked, having no insurance and wearing no seat belt.
