Roadway and sidewalk improvements along U.S. 63 in Rolla have been approved by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. At its meeting this week, the commission awarded a contract to resurface U.S. 63 through much of Rolla and upgrade sidewalks and pedestrian facilities along the route, to put existing deficient sidewalks in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Capital Paving and Construction submitted the low bid of  about $4.1 million.
The project is scheduled to begin later this summer. When work begins, motorists can expect occasional temporary lane and entrance closures. When a start date is established, MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
