Officials say a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper was shot Wednesday morning in Wright County.
Sgt. Jeff Kinder, spokesman for the patrol’s Troop G, said the incident occurred about 10 a.m. on a road near Mansfield.
Kinder said the trooper, Robert D. Crewse, was called out for a suspicious vehicle on a county road, and some kind of altercation ensued in which the trooper and a suspect were shot.
Crewse was treated and released from a Springfield hospital.
The suspect, who was sent to a Springfield hospital, has not been identified.
