The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•On Aug. 21 at about 9 p.m., deputies were assisting Cabool police with a suicidal person when a call came in about an assault at Casey’s General Store – East in which a gun had been brandished.
After receiving a description of the male suspect and vehicle he was traveling in, officers from multiple agencies traveled to the area and located the vehicle at a Chestnut Street residence. Several people were observed outside the home, including the man who allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old male at Casey’s.
The man who allegedly had the gun reportedly fled and was not located. The assault suspect was taken to the Cabool Police Department for processing. All further investigation of the case was to be conducted by Cabool police.
•At about 1:25 a.m. Aug. 22, deputies assisted a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper with a traffic stop on Harry Road.
A man and woman were detained and ultimately arrested on multiple drug and traffic charges.
After the trooper was done at the scene and the couple’s vehicle was being towed, the deputies transported the man and woman to county jail. One of the deputies explained to them that if they took any contraband into the jail, there would be a separate, escalated charge. Both suspects assured the officer nothing would be found.
During the booking process at the jail, a jailer brought to a deputy’s attention that the man kept fumbling around with a watch pocket inside his pants. A deputy asked the man to stand, reached inside the pocket, and two plastic bags containing a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine were found.
A deputy noted in a report that the man was searched prior to leaving the scene of the traffic stop.
•A Houston woman reported on Aug. 25 that her purse had been stolen from inside her car while it was parked overnight at her Highway B residence. There are no suspects.
