Tyson R. Warner, 36, of Bucyrus, faces a pair of felony charges after allegedly cashing a forged check Aug. 10 at a store in Success.
According to a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy’s report, a woman stated that she believed that while she was giving Warner a ride to Licking, he stole several checks out of her purse when she stopped at Pittman’s Store in Success. During an investigation, the deputy determined one of the checks had been cashed at Pittman’s Store for Warner in the amount of $360.
On Aug. 12, the officer had the woman sign her signature, and determined it looked far different than the one on the cashed check.
The woman stated she never gave Warner permission to possess or cash the check. Warner was arrested and taken to jail. He is charged with forgery and stealing (both class D felonies).
Warner claimed the woman did give him permission to cash the check.
Bond was set at $75,000.
