The field has been set for candidates for the Nov. 6 election to pick a new Texas County sheriff.
Bucyrus resident Doug Kyle is the Democratic Party’s nominee for the election. The selection came during a specially called meeting Monday for potential candidates in Houston. The announcement was made Friday morning by party chair Paul Meier.
A native of the Fair Grove area, Kyle is a police officer with the City of Mountain Grove and works for Upton Township. He has experience in Dallas County and other agencies, and was in the news last year as a skeet shooting world champion.
A profile on Kyle will appear in next week’s Houston Herald.
Scott Lindsey is the Republican candidate. His profile appeared earlier.
