Deputies responded to many calls in the county recently.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•Two deputies responded to a report of a party with underage drinking at about 10:20 p.m. Aug. 10 at a Long Ridge Drive property at Plato.

While traveling down Long Ridge Drive, the officers came across a line of about 10 cars leaving. The officers performed consensual searches of the vehicles, and found alcohol in only one, at which time the occupants were told to dump it on the ground.

The deputies determined there was no evidence that any underage occupants had consumed alcohol.  The officers were advised of a bonfire that had been left burning. After traveling to the location of the fire and observing its size, the officer asked 911 to contact the Roby Fire Department about it.

•A woman reported on Aug. 11 that a 65-year-old man’s horse comes to she and husband’s Gale Drive residence at Summersville every day, stays most of the day and spreads horse manure.

An investigating deputy made contact with the horse’s owner, and he said he would keep it in a fenced-in corral.

•A Houston man reported on Aug. 3 that parts were missing from a brush hog in a barn at his U.S. 63 residence. Investigation is ongoing.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 6:10 p.m. Aug. 3 regarding a report of an 85-year-old man stabbed with a knife at a School Drive residence at Roby.

Upon arrival, the deputy observed that Roby Fire and Rescue personnel were there and had stopped the bleeding. The man told the officer he had been whittling walking canes and had dropped the knife and had it stick in his left ankle. The man declined going to the hospital for further treatment.

•Wright County 911 reported on Aug. 3 that a suspicious vehicle was following an ambulance from Mountain Grove to Houston. A deputy determined the vehicle was occupied by family members of the person in the ambulance.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 4:40 a.m. Aug. 6 regarding a report of a runaway juvenile on a bicycle on Highway U at Cabool. The officer was later advised the juvenile was at a friend’s house, and the parents were on the way there.

•A 50-year-old Licking man reported on Aug. 7 that several guns, ammunition and various other items with a total value of $11,361.87 had been stolen from his Highway 32 residence.

The man told an investigating deputy he had been away from the house for several months while it was being remodeled. Investigation is ongoing.

Two deputies were dispatched at about 10:20 p.m. Aug. 7 to assist a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper with a search for a 26-year-old Houston man on Mineral Drive at Houston.

The man had reportedly fled from a traffic stop and then crashed his truck on Mineral Drive and fled on foot into a field on the east side of Mineral Drive. The officers searched the field and a barn in the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

A report was sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against the man.
