Workers look at an overturned truck and rice hulls that spilled early Tuesday morning on North U.S. 63 in Houston.

A truck hauling a large load of rice hulls overturned early Tuesday morning on North U.S. 63 in Houston.

Houston Police Department Chief Tim Ceplina said the call for the single-vehicle accident came at 4:51 a.m. He said the highway was partially blocked until the resulting mess could be cleared.

The driver of the 18-wheeler – owned by a farm operation – was uninjured.

Ceplina said the driver indicated he had gotten too close to the side of the roadway and then overcorrected after a tire went off the edge of the pavement onto the soft shoulder, causing the truck to tip over.

Also responding to the scene were personnel from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Department of Transportation, City of Houston Fire Department and Houston Rural Fire Department.
