Janae Huff and Viviana Guerra had two kills apiece in the Houston volleyball team’s 25-13, 25-16 defeat Monday at Licking.
Melody Buse had a team-high 12 digs for the Lady Tigers (0-5). Alexis Choate handed out three assists. Tara Stanton and Huff had one block apiece. Guerra had two aces.
“Even though the scores don’t look great, we did some really good things and fought hard the whole match,” HHS coach Loran Richardson said. “For the most part, it was a really competitive game.
“We broke down in serve receive both sets and let Licking go on 8-9 point runs which is really hard to come back from. I was proud of our excitement and hustle. These girls are going to do some good things this season. They are working hard and believing in the process.”
Richardson thanked the students in the HHS pep club, who received free admission from Houston Schools.
“They helped keep the girls excited,” she said.
JUNIOR VARSITY: The Lady tigers had nine total kills and seven aces in a 25-14, 25-15 loss Monday at Licking.
