The Lady Tigers’ best performance was in bracket play as they took the opening set from Clinton. But the team’s starting libero, Melody Buse, became sick and couldn’t finish the match. Houston ultimately lost.
HHS (0-4) opened the tournament with losses to Strafford and Rockwood Summit. The next match against Mt. Vernon was a close loss in straight sets.
“The girls improved as the day went on and started to show what they are capable of,” Lady Tigers coach Loran Richardson said. “It’s all coming together, and they will get stronger as the season goes on. If we control our attitude and effort and compete each match, then we are on the right track.”
Houston play Tuesday night at Licking. The Lady Tigers’ home opener is Sept. 4 against Summersville.
