A Licking man will be the Republican candidate this fall for Texas County sheriff.
Scott Lindsey filed Wednesday for the office after being selected as the candidate by the executive committee of the Texas County Republican Central Committee.
The Texas County Commission last month announced that it was calling a special election for Nov. 6 after it named an interim sheriff, Rowdy Douglas. That came after the arrest of James Sigman, sheriff.
The winner of the special election will serve a term that ends Dec. 31, 2020. That’s when Sigman’s term expired.
Lindsey is the police chief of Licking.
