Edward “Ed” Ray Collins, 70, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 6, 1947, in Danby, son of Homer Elva and Elsie Estella Chalfant Collins.
He was saved July 16, 2015 and attended church with his good friends Danny and Charlotte Milanovich at Houston Free Will Baptist Church as his health permitted.
He was a logger and worked as a heavy equipment operator for road construction for several years. He loved to hunt and fish and go mushroom hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger Collins; and a half-brother, Carl Collins.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Collins of Clinton and David Collins and Denny Collins of Mountain Grove; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kaye Brinkmeyer of Lebanon and Bee Scurlock of Big Piney; a half-brother, Dean Collins of Clarksdale; a half-sister, Norma Jean Hutsell of Bucyrus; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services are noon Saturday, Sept. 22, in Dykes Cemetery. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Ed Collins Memorial Fund.
