Houston senior Kennedy Campbell with one of her 15 block touches in Tuesday's home match against Cabool.

The Houston volleyball team battled its opponent to three sets for the second consecutive night. And both times the Lady Tigers came up just short.

Tuesday night it was rival Cabool, which outlasted HHS 25-22, 20-25, 25-16 inside Hiett Gymnasium.

It was the third straight loss for Houston (5-8, 1-2 South Central Association) following a five-match winning streak. The last two – Monday at Eminence and Tuesday against Cabool – were in three sets.

“It was another tough loss,” Lady Tigers coach Lauren Richardson said. “The girls played so hard. We just ran out of gas at the end of the third set.”

Kennedy Campbell had eight kills and 15 block touches for HHS. Tara Stanton added six kills without a hitting error.

Janae Huff handed out 11 assists. Senior Melody Buse had a team-best 25 digs.

“I’m so proud of their fight and competitiveness,” Richardson said. “We can beat any team on any given night, and these girls are going to keep pushing for that.”

JUNIOR VARSITY TIES CABOOL

Baylee Weaver had six kills and Sarah Purcell had a block in the Houston JV volleyball team’s 16-25, 26-24 tie Tuesday with Cabool.

It was pre-determined the match would only go two sets due to King of the Court coronation between matches.
