An Elk Creek boy was injured at about 7:15 p.m. Dec. 1 in an accident north of Cabool, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

A Houston teenager was killed late Wednesday night in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 63.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Connor D. Clifton, 19, was traveling southbound near Highway RA when the truck he was driving struck the guardrail and overturned several times. Clifton, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.

Clifton was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:59 a.m. by Texas County Coroner Marie Lasater. The 2008 Chevrolet 2500 pickup he was driving was totaled.

The 11:50 p.m. wreck was five miles south of Houston. About 40-50 feet of guardrail was damaged, the patrol said.

A 2017 Houston High School graduate, Clifton was a standout football player for the Tigers. He led the team with 96 tackles his senior season to earn first team all-district and second team all-conference honors. He also represented Houston in the annual ‘Grin Iron’ all-star football game.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Souls Harbor Family Worship, Houston, under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the church.
