A Houston teenager was injured Thursday morning when she attempted to avoid a deer near Hawkeye Road and Highway 17.
Tpr. Jason Sentman said a northbound 1998 Dodge Ram driven by Hailey M. Hoyle, 16, ran off the road, struck a utility pole and fence. Hoyle, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital. She had minor injuries following the 7:05 a.m. crash.Â
Sentman said the vehicle was totaled.

EARLIER: Authorities responded to two accidents after 7 a.m. Thursday in the county.Â
The first was near Highway 17 and Hawkeye Road southeast of Houston. The second is on Groves Drive in the Plato area. (There were no injuries). The Plato Fire Department was called.
Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol are investigating.
