JACOB HIGGINBOTHAM

A Houston man faces multiple drug charges following an indictment by a Texas County grand jury.

Jacob Higginbotham, 27, of 109 N. Third St., is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanors of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following a search warrant executed at about 9 p.m. Aug. 29 by the Houston Police Department. The indictment was unsealed last Thursday.

An investigating officer’s report said that when police arrived at the home, they found Higginbotham and another man in the backyard and a woman inside, who were all detained while the search took place. Multiple plastic bags containing methamphetamine or meth residue were found, along with partially burned marijuana and numerous items of drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

While still at the scene, and again during an interview at the Texas County Justice Center, Higginbotham told officers that all illegal items and goods inside the house belonged only to him. Officers questioned him about a baggie found in the purse belonging to the woman who was inside the house, and he said he put it in the purse just before the search warrant was served.

Higginbotham was released Monday on $75,000 bond.
