Sales tax collections in Houston dropped during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The total from a one-cent sales tax was $49,029, down $3,275 from the same period a year ago. For the first three quarters of the year, the total is $532,009, down less than 1 percent or $3,544 for the year.
Merchants also collect two, quarter-cent sales taxes for sidewalks, streets and utility work. Each contributed about $12,260 for the month, down about $810 compared to the same period in 2015.
Sales tax revenue from internet sales totaled $1,595.
