County deputies responded to several calls during the last week.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department

•A 57-year-old Cabool woman reported people trespassing on her Berry Road property on Oct. 2. An investigating officer determined the suspects were a contracted crew spraying brush.

•A 41-year-old Cabool man reported on Oct. 6 that his 18-year-old son had contacted him because someone was breaking into a shop building on their Highway U property.

The man told an investigating officer that his son had stated the people breaking into the building had fired a gun at him. Before arrival, deputies were advised that shots had been fired by each party and that a Dodge truck had fled the scene.

After investigating, officers determined the son had become spooked when he thought he heard voices along a tree line near the shop and that no shots had been fired by anyone.

•A 57-year-old man reported on Oct. 5 that his Slab Town Road residence at Roby had been broken into and several items with a total value of $585 had been stolen. There are no suspects.

•Deputies were dispatched Oct. 5 after a 35-year-old woman reported that a man was suicidal and threatening to kill law officers at a Dogwood Road residence at Mountain Grove. The woman stated her mother’s boyfriend was drunk and was sitting in the living room with a loaded shotgun and a bottle of whiskey.

Upon arrival, officers entered the home and found the man passed out at a desk, holding the bottle and sitting next to a shotgun. He had a probation and parole warrant and was turned over to the custody of Wright County authorities.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 4:30 p.m. Oct. 3 regarding a suicidal 30-year-old woman at a Cooper Lane residence at Licking. The officer made contact with the woman and she said she was suicidal earlier in the day, but wasn’t any longer. She stated she wanted to be taken to a hospital and was transported by ambulance to Ozark Medical Center in West Plains.

•The superintendent of Plato Schools reported a runaway student at about 10 a.m. Oct. 17.

The official stated the 15-year-old boy had become angry with a substitute teacher in ag class and had left, reportedly traveling past the bus barn and crossing several fences before going out of sight. Officers from multiple agencies conducted a search and located the boy behind a bank. He was asked why he had run off and reportedly said he was going back to kill the substitute teacher because she had made him mad.

The boy was turned over to county juvenile officers.

•A 23-year-old Cabool man reported on Oct. 14 that a 21-year-old woman was trying to set a vehicle on fire and had thrown a rock through the back window of a car at their Airport Road residence.

The man told investigating officers that the woman had stated she was going to kill herself and had barricaded herself in a barn loft. Officers told her to come down from the loft, but she wouldn’t comply. Officers then made entry into the loft and took the woman into custody.

She was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital for evaluation and then transported to a mental health facility.
