Donald Leon Jones Sr. (Gunner), 85, passed away Nov. 25, 2018, at his home in Licking, Mo. Gunner was born Dec. 16, 1932, in Louisville, Ky., to Lydia (Stavely) and Henry L. Jones.

Donald was a naval veteran of the Korean War and retired from Granite City Steel in 1996. He was an avid musician and played with his family and friends throughout his entire life. Many hours of his were spent enjoying the outdoors and the company of family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Veronicia Jones, who he married Aug. 18, 2017; three sons, Bobby G. Hearty, Henry J. Jones and Donald L. Jones Jr, all of Licking, Mo.; three stepsons, Chris Hadley and Jessie Garrett of Licking, Mo., and Steven Hadley of Florida; two sisters, Imogene (Gennie) Hamilton and Madilyn Pope of Illinois; three special nieces he thought of as daughters, Tiffany Mourning, Jessica Sexton and Nicole Coley; several grandchildren; step grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Rebecca G Jones; a brother, Walter H. Jones; and sisters, Yvette McMillan and Elizabeth Payne.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Services were 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Erin McConnell officiating. Burial with full military honors was in C T Smith Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bobby Hearty, Derek McGlasson, Christopher Hadley, Raymond Tharp, Jessie Garrett and Charles Staton Jr.
