Elroy William Lewis Schultz, 89, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at his home in Licking.
He was born July 27, 1929, in Faribault, Minn., son of Otto Fredrick and Lydia Alma Haust Schultz.
He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran church in 1929. He was also confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1943. He attended school in Webster, Minn., until the eighth grade.
He received a diploma from the Tractor Training Service in 1952. He served in the Army and was deployed to Korea in 1953. He worked his way up to be a supply sergeant.
After his time in the military, he returned to Minnesota, where he worked at Dingman‘s, K&G and his 23 years at Northfield Foundry and Machine. He retired in 1990. After retirement, Elroy and his wife, Berna Dean, moved to Licking, where they lived until his passing.

He enjoyed woodworking and making repairs. He and Berna Dean made yearly trips to Minnesota and for several years went to North Dakota to help a family friend do field work. They enjoyed many years of various travels.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Berna Dean; four children, Rhonda Faucett of Columbia, Debra Krites of Champaign, Ill., Leroy Lane of Licking and David Schultz of Nerstrand, Minn; two sisters, Nordis Kendrick of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Oda Schultz of St. Louis Park, Minn.; a brother, Orville Schultz of Webster, Minn.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Houston, with Pastor David Kettner officiating. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Fox Funeral Home. Burial will in Shafer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Licking Bridge Builders Senior Center or Hospice Compassus.
