Texas County’s embattled former sheriff and a deputy will appear in court next in 2019, a judge decided last week.

James Sigman and Jennifer Tomaszewski will make a 9 a.m. Jan. 22 appearance in Texas County Circuit Court. The decision was reached last week by a special prosecutor, Don Trotter, handling the multiple charges against the pair, and their legal counsel, Jason Coatney of Springfield. Matters had been scheduled for discussion last Tuesday, but no action was taken.

Sigman and Tomaszewski were charged in July following a Texas County grand jury indictment. They both face similar charges: first-degree felony assault, first-degree robbery, felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony harassment, felony endangering the welfare of a child, second degree; misdemeanor misuse of official information by a public servant and misdemeanor false impersonation. Sigman was charged again in October on a felony forgery charge.
