Mary Frances Newby Heiney, 102, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Mountain View Health Care.
She was born June 19, 1916, daughter of George Washington and Lona Lee Medlock Newby. He and Arthur H. Heiney were married June 1, 1936.
She began school at Black Valley in Hartshorn and grew up in the Hartshorn community.
She was a member at Valley Center Church in her younger years. She later attended Grace Baptist where her son, Joe, is the pastor.
She loved to garden. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Arthur, and later with her children.
She lived several years at Mountain View Health Care, where she was active in playing bingo and loved the parties and activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her parents; a daughter, Leann; two sisters, Irene Lowery and Juanita Stewart; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include three sons, Harold Heiney, Joe Heiney and Doyle Heiney; a daughter, Kathy Keeling; a sister, Evelyn Tyler; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Services were Friday, Nov. 2 at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial was in Summersville Cemetery.
