Shelby Ellison, center, was named the October employee of the month at Texas County Memorial Hospital. Alongside her are David Phipps, pharmacy director, and Doretta Todd-Willis, chief nursing officer.

Shelby Ellison, of Cabool, was recently announced as Texas County Memorial Hospital’s October employee of the month.

Ellison is a registered nurse (RN) on the medical-surgical floor at TCMH. She has been employed at TCMH for seven years.

Ellison was nominated by David Phipps, pharmacy director.

“Shelby is motivated, self-directed and always has a positive attitude no matter what situation comes up,” Phipps said. “She has a refreshing and strong work ethic.”

Phipps described Ellison as a problem-solver and professional, explaining that she is good at catching a problem early and solving it on her own or working with others to get to the solution as quickly as possible.

“This hospital is fortunate to have a nurse and employee such as Shelby,” Phipps said. “I always look forward to working when Shelby is working because I know that it will be a good day.”

As employee of the month Ellison received a certificate honoring her achievement; pin; special parking place in the TCMH lot; one day of paid vacation; $50 gift card; and gift certificates to Paws N Claws, D&L Florist, Blissful Nirvana Massage, Wehr Motors, Savor Grill and Big Red Car Wash.

A reception will be at the hospital in honor of Ellison, who is eligible for the 2018 TCMH Employee of the Year Award.
