Organizers of the annual Share Your Christmas campaign that benefits deserving children in Texas County say more assistance is needed to fulfill holiday wishes.
Pat Miller, the coordinator, said response started slow but has picked up at the headquarters, which is at the Houston Lions Club den basement on North U.S. 63. “Much more help is needed for all children to be provided for,” she said. Hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
There are 191 children from 72 families on the list to receive help.
Persons who want to pick up a list of needs can do so at Angel trees established at several businesses. Written wish lists hang from the trees. They are at: Houston Wal-Mart Supercenter, Forbes Pharmacy, Houston Sonic, Simply Posh Day Spa and the Houston Herald.
New or gently used children’s clothing, coats and toys are needed.
Here are cases 16-20. (Others are were outlined in the newspaper earlier and are online at houstonherald.com).
Case 16. A 3-year-old girl likes Trolls, Frozen or horses. Her clothing needs include size 5 pants and tops, and size 12 children’s shoes and socks. Her 1-year-old brother needs size 2T clothing and size 7 toddler shoes. His favorite toys are stuffed animals or balls.
Case 17. Two boys, ages 8 and 10, would like to have a football, some action figures or cars for their Christmas gifts. Clothing sizes needed are 10/12 shirts and size 8 and size 10 pants. Shoe sizes needed are boys size 5 and 3. A 6-year-old sister’s wish is a Barbie or LOL doll. Size 7/8 is her clothing size and she needs size 13 shoes.
Case 18. A 1-year-old old baby boy would be happy with any toys that light up and play music. He needs size 18 month clothing, a winter coat and size 6 toddler shoes.
Case 19. A baby doll with a bottle is the Christmas wish of a 6 year-old girl. She needs size 6 clothing and size 1 shoes. Her 9-year-old sister would like a Barbie with some clothes. Size 8 pants, tops and a coat are needed, as well as size 2 shoes.
Case 20. Size 12-18 month warm clothing is needed for this baby boy who’s almost 1 year old. He needs size 4 infant shoes, some socks and size 3 diapers. He is happy with any toys.
