A business offering several laser services related to the human body recently began serving customers in downtown Houston.
Simply Smooth Laser is owned and operated by long-time Houston resident Jessica Campbell. Laser-oriented services Campbell offers include hair removal, tattoo removal, fotofacials, scar reduction, age spot reduction, acne treatment, rosacea and eczema treatment, skin tag removal, spider vein treatment and body sculpting.
Campbell for years used laser services offered at a business in Mountain Grove, and became increasingly interested in the benefits. She eventually completed a course and hands-on training to become certified to offer the services herself, and obtained a specialized laser machine (and the appropriate attachments) to start her own business.
“I was really impressed with the results,” Campbell said. “Anything you do with laser is working beneath the surface of the skin. If you get a facial or something like that, they’re working on the surface of your skin. Laser goes beneath the skin to actually heal. It’s amazing what it will do.”
Campbell said laser hair removal can eventually lead to hair no longer growing in targeted areas.
“Hair grows in three different stages,” she said, “and you have to catch hair follicles in the first stage to kill it.”
Fotofacials are an increasingly popular way to clean up a complexion.
“It’s great for any blemish you have on your face,” Campbell said, “like from aging, sunspots, chickenpox or maybe scarring from acne.”
People who work outdoors in warmer months can benefit from laser treatment, Campbell said.
“If you’re out in the sun a lot, you don’t want the treatment while you’re doing that,” she said. “But many women – or even men – who work for MoDOT, for example, will spend the winter rejuvenating their face and getting rid of sunspots so they can be ready for the next season.”
Body sculpting doesn’t mean losing massive amounts of weight, Campbell said, but does mean certain areas on the body can be re-shaped.
“It’s a process of actually breaking down fat cells,” she said. “The laser actually heats up and liquefies fat cells, while tightening your skin at the same time. I’m telling you, the results you see are amazing.”
Simply Smooth Laser also offers teeth whitening, and is equipped with three tanning beds with 24-hour access available.

“I have no idea how much money I wasted over the years getting tanning packages that would expire,” Campbell said, “but because of jobs, kids sports and just different hours, I wasn’t able to make it in before a salon would close. This gives people the opportunity to tan whenever they want to.”
Campbell is also a licensed Realtor working with Living the Dream Realty in Cuba. She said certain laser treatments take several sessions to be effective.
“I will guarantee you will see results,” she said, “but you have to stick with it to get the results you want.”
Campbell’s laser services are currently available by appointment only, but she takes appointments seven days a week (including evenings). She hopes to soon have the store open on a regular basis and accept walk-ins.
