A Houston man faces a felony charge after leading a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy on a vehicle chase on Dec. 18.
Rocky D. Morgan, 37, of 8445 Mineral Drive at Houston, is charged with resisting arrest by fleeing (a class E felony) and driving while revoked (a misdemeanor).
According to a deputy’s report, the officer observed a green Ford Explorer traveling on Grand Avenue in front of the Texas County Justice Center in Houston being driven by a Morgan, who was known to a have a revoked driver’s license.
The deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it instead took off at a high rate of speed. The deputy pursued and saw the vehicle use the shoulder to pass two other vehicles, while reaching speeds as high as 75-miles-per hour on Mineral Drive.
The officer followed Morgan until he drove through the front yard of his residence and hit a small tree in the back yard.
Morgan is held in the Texas County Jail on $200,000 bond.
Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol also assisted.
