Funeral mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Marks Catholic Church, Houston. 

Rhonda Kay Tarpley, 64, of Elk Creek, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at her home.

She was born Oct. 3, 1954, in Fort Knox, Va., daughter of IJ and Dorothy Jaeger Smith. She and married Kyle Tarpley were married Nov. 14, 1998.

She attended St. Marks Catholic Church in Houston as long as her health allowed. She worked as a machinist at Anco for many years and also was a cook at Hardees for several years.

She and her husband, Kyle, enjoyed target shooting, watching movies, camping and being together. She also was an animal lover.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Kyle of the home in Elk Creek; a son, Steve Rightsell of Michigan City, Ind.; three brothers, Dion Smith, Phillip Smith and Al Smith; and a sister, Belinda Caruso.

A funeral mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Marks Catholic Church, Houston. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
