Sales tax revenue decreased during the latest monthly distribution in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Sales taxes collected for the month in the City of Houston dropped significantly from the same period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The monthly total from a one-cent sales tax was $57,561, which was down about $33,638 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $643,508 has been collected. That’s down $21,924 — about 3.3 percent — in the first 11 months of the year, compared to 2017.

Merchants also collect two, quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed $14,375 from the month. That’s down $8,407 from the same period a year ago. For the year, about $156,860 has been collected on each in the first 11 months of the year. That’s down about $5,180 on each for the year.

Sales tax collected on Internet orders totaled $2,237 for the month. The total for the year is $9,194. It was collected on a portion of the year after approval of voters in April.
