WILLIAM C. CASH

A West Plains man is held without bond in the Texas County Jail and faces six felony charges after allegedly hitting another man with his vehicle during an argument Monday night near Cabool.

Sheriff Scott Lindsey reported that deputies on Monday night responded to a residence on U.S. 63 regarding a report of an assault with a vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered that a verbal dispute had occurred between two men that had escalated into a reported assault, with one of the men striking the other with a motor vehicle.  The victim was transported to Texas County Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as William C. Cash, 36, of West Plains. Cash was located by the Wright County Sheriff’s Department in Mansfield.   Lindsey said Cash and a female passenger were taken into custody for questioning, and Cash admitted to operating the vehicle and striking the other man. 

Cash also admitted to using methamphetamine before the incident, Lindsey said. 

Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens Jr. charged Cash with first-degree assault (a class A felony), driving while intoxicated – habitual (a class B felony), armed criminal action (an unclassified felony) and  driving while revoked, leaving the scene of an accident and first-degree property damage (all class E felonies.

He was ordered to be held without bond.    

The TCSD was assisted in the investigation by the Cabool Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Wright County Sheriff’s Department.
