Members of the Houston City Council received several updates on projects during a meeting Monday at city hall.
Houston Housing Authority is considering a solar project with the potential to contribute to the energy grid, City Administrator Tona Bowen reported. She is working with the city’s energy wholesaler to acquire additional information on how the project might work, as well as examining city ordinances.
In other matters, members:
•Learned that a meeting was planned for Tuesday to hammer out an annual agreement for Houston Area Chamber of Commerce services.
•Heard that work on the city’s annual audit begins later this month. A week of field work is planned in February.
•Received an update on work recently completed on the feasibility of a high-speed Internet system that could be another utility service offered by the city. Preliminary work has been done, and meetings held. A report is due soon.
•Agreed to engage Westport Pools of Maryland Heights to assist with development of a municipal swimming pool and assist with grant writing. The cost is $2,375.
